Latest Updates from Our Project:

Polls, sketches, and stretches
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 16, 2020 at 05:42:46 PM

Happy Thursday

Quite a lot has been happening! We continue to plow forward at a steady pace, and we're proud to have hit our next uber-stretch goal, the Community Designed Race! Let's tell you about everything going on...

Community Designed Class

The poll is now closed, and the results are in: The Demolitionist class will now join our ranks (though it was a SUPER close call there for a while with the Cook!)! We're really excited about this idea, since it offers another way to affect cubes outside the dungeon boundary, while also utilizing the less common game mechanic of stacking cubes (and then, in this case, cascading into a glorious explosion!). We still need to work out the exact rules, but this one will surely be a blast to play!

But wait!: Regarding that Cook...  watching this poll was intense! Every day the results flipped between the Demolitionist and the Cook being tied or in the lead. Clearly, the Cook is a much loved idea as well, and we share that love! SO...  we found a way to keep him around! Check out the Stretches section below :D

Latest Sketches

We have two new sketches (not fully colored/shaded yet) for the latest Feat unlocks for Tavern Tales. The first is the Crystal Golem - just like in Dungeon Drop, slaying this monster grants you a "wild gem" of sorts, allowing you to fill out those valuable sets of similarly colored gems. Meanwhile, the Boss Monster armor will DOUBLE the points scored from any previous monster kill claim!

Let's Talk Stretch Goals

Firstly: If you refresh the campaign page, you will see that we finally got around to consolidating all the completed stretch goals into one organized image. Now it will be much easier to track all the great goodies we've unlocked!

Next: Because the Cook was SO close to the Demolitionist in the Community Designed Class poll, we wanted to find another way to allow him to join the team! So we're going to introduce our first Social Stretch Goal: Help us get to the Top 10 on Kicktraq! We are currently #25, but that can change quickly. Here's what you can do to help us here:

  • Go to https://www.kicktraq.com/projects/phaseshiftgames/dungeon-drop-dropped-too-deep-and-tavern-tales/
  • On that page, click the green VISIT PROJECT button, which will take you back to our Kickstarter campaign page
  • Leave a comment about your favorite thing in this campaign in the comments section!

If you want to go even further, share this project's latest funding status via social media using Kicktraq’s social sharing features. With your help, this should rise the ranks very quickly - once we hit the Top 10, the Cook shall be yours!

Get those creative juices flowing again!

Time to vote for the Community Designed Class!

Good evening!

It's that time! We love the ideas you all came up with, and once again we find ourselves disappointed that only one of these ideas will be selected...  of course we may keep one or two others in our back pocket, just in case ;)

Click the image above to head over to BoardGameGeek and get your vote in. You have until Thursday, and you can vote for as many items as you wish.

We can't wait to see the results!!

Big Box prototype update and breakdown of 2nd Printing Upgrade Pack
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 02:21:39 PM

Good afternoon!

We continue to crush through stretch goals, which is amazing!! The last one you unlocked is super exciting for Tavern Tales: The Boss Monster feat! When you successfully claim this feat, you place it over any previous monster kill card you have, doubling its value. This opens up some super cool possibilities!

We also recently updated our tiers and add-ons slightly, opening up these new possibilities:

  • For new Dungeon Drop customers: You now have 2 options. You can either back this campaign at any tier you wish and then add on the retail version of Dungeon Drop for $16 in the add-ons section, or you can back the all-in Deluxe tier for $69 (regular price for that tier would be $108!).
  • For existing Dungeon Drop customers: We're thrilled with how many of you have selected the all-in tier for $49, but please know that we added a $44 tier that focuses just on the Dungeon Drop game, in case that is preferred.

Now on to a couple other topics many of you are waiting to hear more about...

Big Box prototype update

Check out this video for the latest on the Big Box. As always, please let us know if we are going astray, or if we're properly locked in on what you are looking for!

2nd Printing Upgrade Pack

We wanted to let everyone know exactly what is in the 2nd Printing Upgrade Pack. You can even feel free to incorporate these changes into your active games of Dungeon Drop as desired. As a reminder this upgrade pack is FREE and automatically included in every copy of Dungeon Drop: Dropped Too Deep! We are very proud to be able to include this pack for all our original and new backers alike!

Changing "Color" to "Type": There were questions as to which cubes counted as the same color before (for example, a Goblin is green, a Troll is a different shade of green, and a Relic is translucent green). Therefore, we normalized to the term "Type." Each unique cube is considered a different Type (and to be clear, the 3 different color gems are considered 3 different Types now). Accordingly, the following cards all had the term Color changed to Type:

  • Race: High Elf
  • Race: Boblin
  • Class: Adept
  • Class: Cleric
  • Class: Mage

Changing "Remove from the game" to "Re-drop in the dungeon": There is no longer the notion of removing cubes from the game. Instead, any such effect now indicates that you should re-drop that cube back in the Dungeon. This keeps things fresh, reduces maintenance of separating cubes into different piles/areas, and it's just more fun! Accordingly, the following cards all have this concept changed:

  • Race: Gear Golem
  • Race: Stonekin
  • Class: Ropemaster

Errata and clarifications: The following cards were changed to be clearer or address actual errata in the original printing:

  • Race: Wood Elf: This race now clarifies that you "Heal all Damage," now that both Heal and Damage are clear established terms in the new rulebook.
  • Class: Beastmaster: This class now clarifies that you only collect the FIRST treasure cube hit.
  • Class: Bard: This class now reads: "Choose 2 Monsters of the same Type in the Dungeon. Place them, touching each other, anywhere in the Dungeon."
  • Class: Archer: This class now reads: "Ignore Damage from 1 small or large Monster you collect this turn (don't cover Health points, but keep the Monster cube for scoring)."
  • Quest: Collector's Curiosity: This quest has corrected wording - the term "exactly" has been changed to "at least." Meaning, if you collect more than just 1 gem of each Type, you are not declined those points.
  • Quest: Fool's Folly: This quest now clarifies that you only score the bonus for UNLOCKED Treasure Chests.

Other items: The following additional items will also be provided in the 2nd Printing Upgrade Pack:

  • New base rulebook, complete with changes that reflect new terms and rules, updated layout, etc.
  • New Solo Spelunker rulebook (never before printed!)
  • *POSSIBLY* 4 new player aid cards. We will need to see if the new player aid cards for the expansion will cover all the original content as well. If so, we won't need to include 4 updated original player aids AND 4 new ones. So this piece is TBD. But what you should all understand for your active games is that Health Potions now Heal 3 Damage, not just 1.

One final note that several of you have asked: YES, we will include a special symbol on both this set of cards and a different one on all the new expansion cards, so it's clear what "set" everything is from. Thanks!

A big box full of big ideas!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 06:02:22 AM

Happy Friday!

A couple quick things to catch up on, and then on to the main topic - the Big Box!

Quick updates

Community Designed Class: A reminder that the Community Designed Class submissions are still open, but by Saturday afternoon we intend to start going through all the ideas and selecting the best ones for voting. Then we'll open a poll either Sunday or Monday, and run it for 2 days. So if there are any other great ideas floating around in your head, please get them submitted soon: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2517566/community-design-new-class/page/1!

Roll call!: We live in unusual times with this global pandemic, but if you have Dungeon Drop already and happen to have access to a play group of 5 to 6 people, and you are interested in trying some stuff out for us, we want to hear from you! Please send in a private KS message with your email address so we can chat. Thanks!

Big Box?!

Holy cow...  once again, this community has amazed me!! The poll results for the idea of a Big Box to store Dungeon Drop were remarkably clear - nearly 1/4 of you voted, and only 2% of you said you would not be interested. That indicates resounding appeal for something like this, so now we're taking it to the next level of consideration.

First, here's the results from poll:

As you can see, there's a real opportunity here to bring something else new and exciting to this campaign. Now, of course, we always like to think well "outside the box," so we're also considering other fun things we might be able to do with this potential product...  more to come on that later.

For now, please check out this video where I show and explain what we're thinking for the box itself, and then comment with your thoughts. We look forward to hearing what you think! Thanks.

Cheers!

Day 1 recap
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 12, 2020 at 07:09:08 AM

Holy cow!

So...  reflecting back to last year's campaign, we posted several campaign updates in day 1. We literally did not have time to even consider doing that this year!! We're now nearing the end of day 1, and we're at the place we were on day 8 last year, which is just insane!

HUGE THANKS to you all!! We blew threw almost 30 stretch goals today, but rest assured we have the best ones yet to come :D

To top it all off, I only JUST realized moments ago that we achieved the Kickstarter "Projects We Love" status, which is unbelievably exciting!! This should give us an even greater leg up over the next 25 days!

Sorry about the Kickstarter bugs

For those of you who tried to use the Kickstarter mobile app today, you likely found out that the shipping amounts looked absolutely crazy (like getting charged $8 shipping for a $2 add-on, where there should have been NO additional shipping!). All we can say is this has been definitively confirmed to be a bug in their app, and if you instead use the website version you will have no problems with the add-ons or shipping aspects.

We will of course pass on this feedback to Kickstarter.

A little more on Tavern Tales

Now that we've unlocked stretch goals across several categories, I can unveil exactly how all the advanced Tavern Tales modules actually work. Here's part 2 of the how-to-play video, where I go in deeper on those aspects. Please keep in mind that this is all early prototype art and components you'll see in the video!

So what's next?

Tomorrow will bring several exciting developments:

  • We will unveil our first UBER stretch goal. That doesn't just mean the threshold is higher... it means it's a whole other level of value!
  • We will spin up some community ideas and voting for a stretch goal we surpassed hours ago - naming our "specialty drinks" for Tavern Tales, each of which will represent a unique player ability in the game.
  • This may perhaps push past tomorrow, but I will take the time soon to create an update explicitly about the 2nd Printing Upgrade Pack, showing you each and every card and rule change, so you can incorporate those changes even sooner as you see fit.

On behalf of Darrin, Scott, and Greg, from the bottom of our hearts, we are so proud to be a part of this community and feel your tremendous support. We look forward to bringing you even more amazement over the days to come!
