BackerKit pledge manager surveys are coming!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 01:45:02 AM

Happy Sunday

Soon, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit pledge manager survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses before we close the surveys at the end of each month.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://dropped-too-deep.backerkit.com/.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://dropped-too-deep.backerkit.com/faq.

Tavern Tales artwork update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 11, 2020 at 12:22:27 AM

Hello all!

We are hard at work finalizing all the artwork for both Dungeon Drop: Dropped Too Deep and Tavern Tales. We have completed all the Tavern Tales Feat cards, so we wanted to show you our progress so far on those and other components.

Also note that we are keeping the Tavern Tales mod on Tabletop Simulator up to date as we finalize art and cards like these, so if you are interested in checking it out you can do so anytime in the Steam Workshop. And if you want to play a game with us, feel free to join our Discord server anytime - we have played many games with members of this community over the past few weeks, and we'll continue to do so!

Enjoy!

Card backs (Feat / Hero decks):

Gems, Treasure Chest, and Mimic Feats:

Monster Kill Feats:

Other Treasure and the Royal Quest Feats:

Adventurer Power Feats:

Location sketches:

These are not final, but you can see directionally where these are headed, which we are in love with! The finals will be fully colored, brighter, and will have special overlays that match the imagery on the tops of the Hero cards.

Mineshaft
Ice Caves
Caverns
Catacombs
Inferno

Cheers!

And that's a wrap!

Thank you!

What else can we really say, except that with your help and support we've been able to create some INCREDIBLE gaming experiences! We can't thank you enough!!

Cubethulu Awakens!

Now that the campaign is over, we can officially announce that Cubethulu has rightfully won the Community Designed Huge Monster contest!! Can't wait to see this bad-boy enter the dungeon :D

What's next?

In the weeks to come we will start talking about the Pledge Manager, plans for manufacturing and fulfillment, and all that other good stuff. But in the meantime, please join us in raising a glass and congratulating all of us who came together to make this dream possible!

That's it for now. You are all amazing, and we can't wait to show you even more cool stuff we have planned for the future! CHEERS!!

24 hours to go!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 28, 2020 at 11:41:42 PM

Good evening!

Photo and pumpkin carving by Box_of_games

First, a huge shout out to super-fan Box_of_games (Twitter: @boxofgames1) for their amazing work on the Flame Demon Pumpkin carving above!

So this is it - the final 24 hours of another amazing campaign! To all the new folks who joined at the 48-hour bell, we welcome you and thank you for supporting our project!

Stretch Goals

We just blew through another Stretch Goal, for the velvet spell bag! There were a couple questions as to whether or not this spell bag would be added to all instances of the Wizards & Spells expansion - INDEED, no matter when or where you purchase the Wizards & Spells expansion, it will come with this beautiful bag!

So now we have two final Stretch Goals remaining, and just under $9k needed to make them both happen!:

This Treasure Feat set includes 5 to 7 cards

This Treasure Feat set will grant significant bonus for the first card collected, and then impose a penalty for each subsequent card collected (Draglin is now hunting you down!). No other Feat set currently works this way, so this adds a very cool new dynamic to Tavern Tales!

The mighty Lava Kraken rounds out our trio of huge Monsters that relate in some way to each of the 3 gem colors. In the case of the Lava Kraken, when her ability triggers she re-drops everything that is on the line between her Monster cube and each Blue Gem in the Dungeon (think of them as the tips of her tentacles!). She also does becomes less powerful (but more valuable) as Heroes collect Blue Gems from the Dungeon, reflecting her tentacles being cut off one by one!

Meanwhile, the poll for the Community Designed Huge Monster is still underway for the next 23 hours, so head over to BoardGameGeek and vote for your favorite of the 5 community submitted ideas! Currently Cubethulu is in the lead, but other submissions are close behind!!

One quick note about how Monster abilities work, since the question came up specifically about the Huge Gelatinous Cube idea - each Monster ability triggers in the following ways:

  • As soon as the Huge Monster enters the dungeon
  • Again at the start of every round
  • Again anytime a player forms a room using one or more Forbidden Pillars

So when thinking about a monster like the Huge Gelatinous Cube, the idea is that it will amass many treasures over the course of the game (thereby increasing in both strength and value). Of course, any huge monster could come out later in the game and not have their ability triggered as much, but this is balanced across all huge Monsters equally - the same is true with Draglin and his hoard of gold, or the Flame Demon and his damage output.

Can't wait to see how both the poll and the campaign overall come to a close in the next day, and we can't thank you all enough for your involvement and support! Cheers!!

The calm before the storm
over 3 years ago – Tue, Oct 27, 2020 at 09:05:07 PM

Good morning!

We've reached the final stretch...  we're just hours away from that magical 48-hour alarm! We want to let you know what to expect, and also kick off our final poll for the community designed huge Monster!

Changes to the Kickstarter page

Over the course of the day you will see some restructuring to the Kickstarter page. Most notably, we will be updating that large "Stretch Goals Unlocked" image and moving it up top, just below the "Inside the Box" section. We will keep the Stretch Goals section below, showing the final goals to be unlocked.

Community Designed Huge Monster Poll

Image linked to the community poll on BoardGameGeek

This is it! Head on over to the community poll before the end of the campaign and get your votes in for the new huge Monster to be added to Dungeon Drop! As usual, there were tons of tremendous ideas, and we chose the 5 best ones that would fit perfectly into the universe and game model... but the rest is up to you! Can't wait to see where this one lands :D

Thank You!

Those of you reading this update as it goes out have been here with us for the last 25 days. We're about to see countless new backers once that 48-hour bell rings, and we're super grateful for all those newcomers as well, but we want to give you all a SPECIAL THANKS to you all for sticking with us on this journey! We've accomplished a tremendous amount of work over the past 25 days, including but not limited to:

  • Almost 50 stretch goals unlocked!!!
  • 4 community design contests (including the one above)
  • Development for TWO brand new 5-player game modes (adversarial and "1 vs. Many"), included in the Wizards & Spells expansion
  • Development of a brand new Big Box storage solution (final art TBD, but we have a great updated direction we hope to show you soon!)

And the best news of all, despite the immense amount of effort and energy that goes into a campaign like this, we loved EVERY minute!

A special thanks to the following individuals, without whom this campaign literally would not exist:

  • Gregory Skulnick: Our newest game designer brought us this gem of an idea that quickly turned into Tavern Tales, and Greg was a pure joy to work with every step of the way! We look forward to seeing many more great designs from Greg, and in the meantime we could not be more proud of how perfectly Tavern Tales fits into the Dungeon Drop universe and how well the game plays!! Thank you for joining us Greg!
  • Scott R. Smith: Scott has been with us for 2 years now, and let me tell you - the creative ideas that pour out from Scott on every single call are simply unbelievable. It actually becomes a real problem sometimes, when we hop on to discuss and to make some small decision, and then in the process 3 new notebook pages are filled with future expansion ideas, new game modes, and even brand new games that we could make together! Scott...  this madness needs to stop, HAHA! Seriously, the community has SO much more to see from you, and Darrin and I consider ourselves beyond blessed to be working with you!
  • Darrin Horbal: You all see a lot of me and our two designers in various videos and such, but I need to take a special moment to recognize my partner and dearest friend, Darrin. So much happens in front of the curtain that you all see every day, but you have no idea how much else happens back-stage to make this all possible. Before Phase Shift Games was born, Darrin and I both had a dream to jump into this publishing world, but we each knew we could not do it independently. Thankfully we found each other, and you are all seeing and experiencing the tremendous benefits that emerge from that. Darrin, our tireless efforts are paying off, our wonderful community is growing, and so... well...  I guess we'll remain tirelessly working on all this great, fun stuff together for all time now!! <3

On to the final leg... Cheers!!
